It was of course all worth it when we started washing down these sweet little ones, and placing fresh new clothes on their scarred and frail little bodies. I felt that instead of just washing them the Lord was telling us to literally bathe them in prayer. So as we wiped their faces we prayed that their eyes would be enlightened, and their little ears would hear the voice of the Father, we prayed for their hearts to know Him, and their feet to follow His path. I am still struggling with some of the things I saw on their tiny bodies, I have spent several nights praying for them when the pictures come back into mind…..I believe (and will beg, grovel and plead for this) that a medical clinic is necessary sooner than later. Or even just a team of nurses and doctors to come for a few days. There are several things these kids suffer with that would be very easy to fix with proper care and medicine. After hours of bathing and dressing, the kids were served lunch. Meanwhile the GoGo’s and Make’ (grandma’s and mothers) were beyond excited to see all the goodies we brought for them. We had such an abundance of women’s clothes donated that the ladies that serve these kids everyday (without pay) were greatly blessed. When they started pulling out the dresses, new undergarments and blouses they let out a loud hoot…they are adorable, I absolutely love these women of God. Mama Elizabeth kept thanking us, saying “I have never seen a day like this”…I told her this was all happening because of HER prayers for these kids and that it is only the beginning…
While the new clothes and clean bodies made these children feel better, and the toys made them smile, it was the last hour that we spent with them that was so amazing. We had the kids in a circle and told them that who ever wanted individual prayer could line up. Swazi people are very quiet and humble people…which is one reason that they are so easy to serve, and easy to love. These children showed their culture as they quietly bowed their heads and folded their hands. Praying over them was by far the best thing we did that day. I could not hold back the tears as I looked into the eyes of the future mothers, fathers, pastors, teachers and leaders of Swaziland….200 of the most important people on earth….
Thank you to Gary, Seth, and Andrew for covering this, all the donors….amazing, God Bless you one hundred fold for the many ways you contributed, to Casey Wells, Emilie and Alexis Black for blood, sweat and tears….God saw it all, and all the REAL LIFE chicks (and Caleb) for all the hard work with smiles the whole time, to Collin, Basil, Stephony and Jumbo for transport and a servants heart!
None of this would have happened without each of you!
