Bondage is not love; 50 shades of disturbing.

In this world of all gray, in this world of no standards and no absolutes I find myself on fire all the time. The questions burning inside me; “Who is going to lead this next generation? Where are the women that supposed to be strong mothers, where are the men that are supposed to be strong fathers?”

There is a movement in this country that is trying to tell young women and older woman that bondage is love.

It is not love.

Bondage is slavery.

If it were men pushing this agenda we would be outraged.

But it’s not the men, it is us WOMEN.

Women are writing the books, women are buying the books and WOMEN are knocking each other over to go see the movie.

Disturbing.

Meanwhile, our daughters are being drugged and gang raped on college campuses.

Meanwhile, sex trafficking is a 32 billion dollar a year industry.

You know what sex trafficking is right?  It is slavery, it is bondage, and it is children and women being abused, all day every day.  The abusers are weak, small, spinless people that use pain and intimidation to control other humans.

Nothing sexy about that; no romance there.  No one wants to go out for a nice dinner on Valentine’s Day and watch a movie about that?

Do they?

Slavery is the opposite of love, the complete opposite.

These books and movies fuel an industry of pornography and the dehumanizing and abuse of women and girls.

And it is disturbing.

It is not harmless, and it is not victimless.  We older women have a responsibility to teach the younger generation to RUN from this kind of treatment. We have a responsibility to be an example of what being a woman really looks like: self-respect, dignity…and a little bit of class.

If our own standards are so blurred, if everything in our own lives are so grayhow are we going to lead anyone else?

Maybe you are still confused if this is a serious issue or not, so here are some questions you should ask yourself;

Would you take your son to this movie and tell him “This is how a real man acts and this is how you should treat women.” Would you tell your son, “This is what women really want?”

Would you take your daughter to this movie and tell her, “This is love, this is romance, you don’t have to wait to be a victim, and you can choose to become a victim first”?

Of course you wouldn’t do this.

So, why are you not speaking up?  Why would you give your time and your money to something that feeds an industry that abuses people?

This movie coming out on February 13, 2015 is a HUGE step backwards for women, and if you participate in any way you are part of the problem.

Where are the women that are fighting for the next generation of girls? Where are the real men that love, cherish and protect women and children?

There is nothing gray about this: you are either participating in the problem or you are making a stand against it
