tea for 20?

The Real Life team was here ministering in Swaziland for December, and like most teams and groups we have about 90% girls.  I thought they might enjoy and afternoon of just being Women.  They spent their days in the dirt with little children or at hospitals full of people dying of AIDS.  Until just recently they did not have running water or electricity where they were staying.  I know that the heaviness of a place like this can really get to you, and if you don’t take time out…you can crack!  So one day this month was “dress pretty, do your hair, put on a little make-up and relax day” at our home.  Alexis, Emily and I served homemade quiche, salad, cheesecake and, proper tea, in proper tea-cups.  We shared our hearts, and our passions.  I was surprised at the depth and maturity of these girls.  Some are only seventeen and have left their families for 3 months to live in the bush of Africa.  Amazing!  Ms. Stephony was our speaker today, and one of our hero’s.  She and her husband were called to serve the Lord in Botswana and live among the “Bushmen” for seven years, and they lived in a TENT the entire time.  They faced wild animals and witchcraft everyday…and they loved it.  I love Stephony’s story, I love that she is fearless and willing to do anything God asked of her, and she has been married to the same adorable man for 50 years!  Very inspiring.  I want this generation of women to know the strength and beauty of a woman in balance.  We were not created as an after-thought of God; we are adored by our God.  Women were created to bring beauty and peace to those around them, and I want these women to know that no matter what God calls them to, living in the bush or a tent, or raising their children to know God…it is all Holy, and the Lord is in all of it…

Thank you for the day, Ladies, you are incredible…
