F
unny how you start to think you are married to an ordinary man, and then you realize he is the man of your dreams.
Don’t get me wrong; regardless of the stress of life I am always a little enamored with my husband.
Sometimes, even I forget the treasure that I have been given.

Gary
had been gone for 7 days, preaching in the jungles of
Mexico
.
I was doing my job, cooking, laundry, teaching, cleaning, and generally serving the tribe.
By the end of the week, it seemed more and more house rules were being stretched…bed times a little later, TV on a little longer, and me repeating myself a little bit more.
I found myself saying things like, “would you be doing that if your Father was here?”
  By the time I picked

Gary
up at the airport, we were both exhausted.
We acknowledge that although we have different callings, they are equally as important.
I whined to my man about HIS six children.
He called a family meeting first thing Sunday morning, and we had CHURCH!

Gary
humbly repented to all of us for not establishing CLEAR enough how authority works. (Which really was his example that true leaders take 100% of the blame, whether it is their fault or not.)
He explained again that God is our ultimate authority, then the Father, then the Mother, and then the children.
He explained that coming out from under your God-given authority opens your life up to certain ruin.
He gave several examples of people we know that have made that choice, and destroyed their own lives.
It is an excellent teaching, and proven in scripture.
I felt better, but he was not done. What he said next went something like this:

“This is not just your mother, this is MY wife, she is bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh, NOTHING can come between us, we are of ONE mind, one body and one spirit, we share the same voice, we share everything… Her voice IS my voice, and when I am not here she carry’s my authority.
She is my queen, and when you are all grown and have your own families, she and I will still be here, in love and married to each other…You will not talk back to her, you will not question her, and you will do what she asks you to do immediately with no questions asked….is that understood..?”

All six heads bobbed up and down, all 12 eyes were twice their normal size.
Each child repented and we all prayed for each other…but I had a hard time focusing…I swear, the sweats Gary had slept in had turned into a full coat of shiny armor…I was a little breathless, and my love and  respect for him went to an even deeper level

You see there is nothing more attractive than when a man is being a real man. His strength allows me to be soft.
I don’t have to fight for myself, because he fights FOR me.
He trusts me because I don’t control or manipulate him.
It is God ‘s perfect design; if we could all get this in our marriages, in our churches, in our families…our entire society would be transformed.
We have to teach this next generation how to be real men and women, the way God set it up in the Garden.
This idea of feminine men, and controling women is obviously not working!
